The Newborn Screening Continuity Clinic (NBSCC) aims to ensure the best possible outcomes for individuals diagnosed with conditions identified through newborn screening. Long-term follow-up is vital for high-quality chronic disease management, condition-specific treatment, and age-appropriate preventive care and education throughout a patient’s lifespan.

In partnership with the Department of Health–Center for Health Development IV-A (DOH-CHD IV-A) and De La Salle University Medical Center–Developmental Pediatrics (DLSUMC), the Newborn Screening Continuity Clinics of Region IV-A conducted the activity “Developmental Pediatrician Consultation for Confirmed Newborn Screening Patients from CALABARZON.”

The consultations were held over three days, June 9–11, 2025, with 25 patients from the five provinces of CALABARZON assessed by developmental pediatricians from DLSUMC. DOH-CHD IV-A provided the meals for patients and companions, and the LGUs p rovided most transportation assistance. Developmental pediatric screening is crucial for the early identification of potential developmental delays or disorders. It involves assessments of growth, communication, social interaction, and motor development to ensure that children meet age-appropriate milestones. Early detection allows for timely interventions, access to therapies, and support systems that can significantly improve long-term outcomes and enhance a child’s overall well-being.

Patients were assessed by Developmental Pediatrics fellows from DLSUMC: Dr. Patricia Anne T. Quimbo, MD, DPPS, Dr. Inez Margarita D. Montenegro, RND, MD, DPPS, Dr. Nadine Kathlene C. Cinco-Almodovar, MD, DPPS, Dr. Alexandra Sedano, MD.

The activity was also joined by NBS Coordinators from DOH-CHD IV-A, including Ms. Jhoanna Gatbonton, RN, MPH, and Nutritionist-Dietitian Ms. Andrea Andres, RND.

NBSCC nurses from GEAMH, BATMC, DJPRMDH, PGH, and QMC, together with DOH-CHD IV-A NBS Coordinators, served as overall coordinators of the event.

The Newborn Screening Continuity Clinics of Region IV-A extend their sincere gratitude to DOH-CHD IV-A and DLSUMC–Developmental Pediatrics for making this event possible. Special thanks are also given to the participating LGUs for providing transportation to some of the patients, and to the dedicated NBS Coordinators who ensured the patients’ attendance by recalling and accompanying them to DLSUMC.
