The Provincial DOH Office of Isabela and the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Isabela, in partnership with the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD), launched the PuroKalusugan initiative in two remote barangays: Bicobian, Divilacan on May 21, and Reina Mercedes, Maconacon on May 22, 2025.
Community members participated in the two-day rollout, reinforcing the local commitment to health education and preventive care.
The PuroKalusugan launch featured a comprehensive information and education campaign (IEC) designed to address the healthcare needs of the residents. The campaign covered a range of important topics, including wellness and physical rehabilitation for stroke and hypertension, disease prevention and management; recommended infant and young child feeding practices, child growth and nutrition, Expanded Newborn Screening (ENBS), and National Immunization Program (NIP). In addition to the educational sessions, participants also received onsite basic health check-ups and consultations which enabled immediate assessment and intervention when needed.
The initiative’s success was made possible through the strong collaboration among regional, provincial, and municipal health teams, whose unified efforts ensured smooth implementation and a wider reach within the target communities.
From the Provincial DOH – Isabela team, key contributors included Dan Christian Reyes, (Development Management Officer IV), Sjenica Syjongtian (Pharmacist II), Jefferson Cayme (PT II), and Lizette Antonio (ND II). Representing the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development – Regional Office were Novelyn Lacuanan (Regional NBS Coordinator) and Marry Jean Tomo (Project Development Officer II). The Integrated Provincial Health Office – Isabela team was also instrumental, with Chamille Claravall (NIP Coordinator) and Kristel Balisi (Pharmacist) providing essential support. Additionally, the Rural Health Units (RHUs) of Divilacan and Maconacon played a vital role in mobilizing the community and facilitating on-the-ground activities
The partnership with the RHU Divilacan and RHU Maconacon was also crucial, ensuring localized support and reach within the communities. These initiatives underscore the commitment of health authorities to bring essential health services and information directly to the barangays, fostering healthier and more informed communities in Isabela.
